El consumo en la historia global y transnacional: Una perspectiva latinoamericana

Resumen

El consumo es una vía de entrada privilegiada para los estudios de historia global y transnacional. Aquí se estudia el recorrido historiográfico que se ha dado en este tema. En principio se analizan las historias de mercancías como primer ejemplo de historia global. En segundo lugar, se toman en cuenta los trabajos que, en esta perspectiva, se han desarrollado desde la historia precolonial hasta la postindependencia. En tercer lugar, se investiga la relación entre modernidad y estudios transnacionales en esferas como la publicidad y las tiendas departamentales. En cuarto lugar, el artículo se centra en la cultura de consumo, el consumismo y la globalización. Finalmente, se pone énfasis en los estudios más recientes sobre el tema, que le otorgan agencia a los consumidores en un mundo globalizado.
