Abstract

Eugenio d’Ors (1881-1954) was one of the most important intellectuals of the first half of last century in Catalonia and one of the most prolific, versatile and controversial of Spain in the same period. However, nowadays there’s only one biography, published in 1967 and, although a wide variety of studies on different aspects of their life and production have been carried out, works focused on his life and his political and cultural thought have stood out for having assumed uncritically, at least partly, two simultaneous processes: the own reconstruction (auto)biography done by Eugenio d’Ors and the perceptions of those cultural and political groups with which he confronted throughout his life. Within this framework, this text seeks to review the reception of his work in the contexts in which it took place and the relationship with the texts in which the Catalan intellectual tried to (re) construct his biography. From this perspective, finally, the author intends to present some questions about the focus of intellectual biographies that can transcend the analyzed character.
