Una mirada arqueofaunística a la dieta de la población de frontera (siglo XIX)

Abstract

We can make approximations about the inhabitants ́ feed mode in the south frontier of province Buenos Aires province, during most of the XIX century (1820 -1880) by analyzing archaeological materials obtained in fieldworks. Following this purpose, we analyze archaeofaunal evidence recovered in the area where settled fortified were established, near an old raked called "Camino de los Indios a Salinas," later known as "Camino del Hilo" Barros (1975 [1872]) nowadays route 60. The investigations are performed in the Blanca Grande fort, Lavalle fort, and archaeological city “The Lost”, in Olavarria, La Parva fortlet, General Alvear and San Martin fort, in Coronel Suárez. The analysis of taxonomic representation, species consumed and its relation to the identity of indigenous people and Euro-creole, will help us to interpret different uses and exploitation of wildlife resources.
