Abstract

This article discusses the ways of building a political practice and the developed of their own political space for an important sector of the labor movement of Tucumán in the early forties. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the patterns, causes and events of the workers' movement transit to a public demand for political participation, the final abandonment of its traditional position of abstention in politics and construction of a political strategy in the specific context in which it arises, that is, the complex colophon of the thirties and the difficult early years of the 1940s. In that scenario, the defense of democracy in the streets was the centerpiece of the unión leadership action, whose willingness to participation and integration in the country's political game, materialized in a work aimed at achieving these goals and its coronation was the strengthening of an area of political action that took the name of Democratic Union.
