The war for independence that took place in the colonial territory of South America was a central subject in the account of events made by its contemporaries, as well as in the memories written by its main characters years later. For some years now, historiography has regained its interest in war, reviewing from a new theoretical point of view, the participation of wide social sectors and the social, political and economic impact this has had on the environment in which it was developed. In this article, it is especially interesting to analyze the conflictive relationships established between the local militias and the Auxiliary army sent from Buenos Aires to the inner provinces to obtain the recognition to its authority and the nature of it due to the insurrection in the jurisdiction of the province of Salta.
