Abstract

This article studies issues related to the practice of consort election in a popular neighborhood in the city of Buenos Aires. The main sources are marriage records from the period 1940-1955. It stems from there that one of the fundamental avenues of social integration –usually focused on the male working class nationalization- consisted of the formation of couple. The theme outlines two problems of social history: the presence of women workers coming from the interior of the country and the formation of new families. One of the social contexts where Peronism appeared is showed, even if there is no causal relationship proposed.
