Abstract

Quilmes lndian settlement (reducción), located in the province of Buenos Aires, existed officially for 146 years. During such a long time many changes took place in relation to ethnicity, the evolution ofthe region and the local political events. In 1812 it was dissolved by a decree ofthe First Triumvirate and its land became State property. The present work narrates the events that leaded to the dissolution decree, trying to perceive the different voices ofthe social actors involved.
