Abstract

In this article we investigate the participation ofthe landowners in the local bureaucracy, from its appointment like “jueces de paz”. We will adopta compared space perspective, with the purpose of locating the process of conformation of the local powers in the context of the expansion of the border,jointly to the forrnation and consolidation of the campaign towns. We will study the 1821-1880 period, in Chascomús, Ranchos and Monte (pertaining to the first outpost of the Hispanic-Creoles on native territories during the government of virrey Vértiz, at the end ofthe decade of 1770) and in Junín, 25 de Mayo, Bragado (whose forts rose between half-full of the 1820's and the end of 1840's), Saladillo and 9 de Julio (established in the years that followed the fall of Juan M. de Rosas).
