To approach the definitions that the social elite of Buenos Aires drew, up of itself in the change of 19th to 20th century (through some of its more outstanding intellectuals, of its emblematic spaces or sociability, great newspapers of the city) allows to apprehend the dinamism and the change this definitions supported. We attended a conception of aristocracy oponed to the merit, and that, in last instance, essentially talked about a life style to develop through certain consumptions, likings and behaviors, like in Miguel Cané's definition of the project thut, as scope of sociability, had to persecute the Jockey Club, to other slight knowledge that they look for to delimitan original social nucleus more closed, on the base of the possession of the time: a capital of important symbolic weight by its relative shortage in an aluvional society.
