Abstract

Studying the fishermens communities of Alvarado (Veracruz State) the article proposes the application of the adequation-differentiation-juxtaposition continuum model. according to the analysis of our historical sources. for several periods from 300 years ago. The chief aim of our research is to determine the social changes and permanences of fishermen's communities in the Gulf of Mexico. Our main conclusion is that at present we are at the end of a longue durée cycle and at the beginning of a new one in which ecological considerations must be more important than cconomic ones.
