Abstract

The purpose of this papcr is to analyse the experience of the military way of lite of sargentos, cabos and soldiers, who formed part of the army and the militia of Buenos Aires between 1810 and 1820. The axis are the subaltern sectors of Buenos Aires, its hinterland and other regions, main source of people for the regular army and for the civic militia. during all the decade. The living experience of war, creating new traps between the common people and generating collective actions. contributed -with a parallel practice of intervening in public life, product of the revolution- to develop patterns of participation despite of the strict military frame.
