Lectura y política. Los lectores de la Biblioteca Popular Juventud Moderna de Mar del Plata (fines de los años treinta y principios de los cuarenta)

Abstract

This work studies the relations between the ways of sociability of popular spaces and the forms of reading at the popular library Juventud Moderna through a quantitative analyses of the borrowing books of the library and also through an analyses qualitative of a different sources (époque newspapers, acts books of directive commissions, interviews to protagonists). This boarding treates to point two kinds of studies to determine cultural properties: a) the consolidation of an interpetative community which suffered multiple impacts due to tensions that were joined to asociety involved in a rapid urban development; b) from the places left aside by the elites and the vanguards, in that places grew a massive audience (associated to entertainment by the enterprises that tried to form it) but al so for the proliferation of the chances to escape of the patriarchal and dilettanti ways of expression.
