Argentinos colonos o chilenos intrusos: territorializaciones y clasificación de los pobladores indígenas en Patagonia

Abstract

The different systems of classification applied by the Argentine state official documentation have had an importan! role in defining the possibilities/ impossibilities of the Patagonian native peoples' aecess to land during the first part ofthe twentieth century. We will focus on different cases to describe land expropriation and social control mechanisms. We will thus be able to analyze social space construction and its domination relationships. We will conceive this social space in terms of the nationalist matrix and its construction of the hegemonie discourse against which the native people's ageney has had to confront and build its own strategies.
