Abstract

Since the end of the XIX Century, the process of modernization in Mendoza, had as its principal aim the development of an agroindustrial system intended to produce wine al great scale for the national market. This fact substituted an economy based in the exportation of cattle to Chile. The idea that the land was susceptible of being exploited and sold helped the development of capitalism. This work shows the functioning of how the supply and demand of the lands operates and the moles in whieh the agricultural space appeared. lt also shows the action of the actors and the role played by the State in the dinamization of rural real state market as pre requisite for the growing specialization. The great spacial and economical change generated by viticulture contributed to complicate the present society. Nevertheless some structures remained, reflecting strong hierarchical relationships in the geographical space.
