Identificación, caracterización y tipología de las regiones globales basadas en el conocimiento: una aproximación desde la coordinación de las políticas de desarrollo

Este trabajo pretende verificar la existencia de las Regiones Globales basadas en el conocimiento (RGBC), como los territorios en donde se coordinan las fuerzas y políticas del desarrollo con las de la globalización y el conocimiento. Para identificar estas regiones, a partir de los rankings que miden el desarrollo regional, se construyeron categorías proxy de las políticas de globalización, competitividad en la economía del conocimiento, Urbanización y transición demográfica, Producción de riqueza, desempeño institucional y Organización espacial. Se aplicaron las técnicas multivariantes de correspondencia simple y clústers; se encontró una compatibilidad entre las categorías y clasificación entre las regiones. Con lo que se verificó la existencia de las RGBC y una jerarquía entre ellas; que va desde las regiones alfa, líderes y olifuncionales, hasta las insuficientes, rezagadas y afuncionales. Se concluye que las regiones latinas son las menos posicionadas como RGBC.
